An introduction to DNS and what UCANN2 does is in order.
DNS is like your phone book, it maps names to internet numbers all over the world. This allows you to remember UCANN.org or funky.monkey and not have to remember the long number that is the internet location of said website. (ie. 192.157.245.172 or 2605:f700:80:800::739d:956d) Making life surfing the interwebs so much easier.
What UCANN2 does, is we located ALL top level domain root servers, and add them to a master file, so that anyone, everyone using the UCANN2 structure (umbrella) can see all these names. Currently there are over 11,000 top level domains world wide. By default using the out-of-the-box computer (go to the store, buy a machine, setup, and start browsing the web), you can only see around 1600 top level domains.
In these pages of UCANN2's docs; you will find instructions on how to set up a DNS server (both authoritative and secondary) using a variety of software; most of which are free and standardized.
